When to Apply for a Ballot by Mail

Voters may submit an Application for Ballot by Mail beginning January 1st of each year.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION FOR BALLOT BY MAIL

Registered Limestone County voters may vote by mail if they meet one of the following criteria:

Voter is 65 years of age or older on Election Day.

Voter is disabled or has a sickness that prevents the voter from appearing at the polling place on Election Day without a likelihood of needing personal assistance or injuring the voter's health.

Voter is expecting to give birth within 3 weeks before or after Election Day.

Voter will be absent from Limestone County during Early Voting and Election Day. Voter must provide an out-of-county mailing address for the ballot.

Voter is confined in jail but eligible to vote or Involuntary Civil Commitment.

Voters may submit an Application for Ballot by Mail by the following methods:

In person: A voter may hand deliver only their own application until the deadline for that election.

NOTE: A voter under the "Absent from County" category may NOT hand deliver their application once early voting begins.

NOTE: If you email or fax your application, you must also mail the original and it must be received in our office within 4 business days.

APPLICATION FOR BALLOT BY MAIL RECOMMENDATIONS

While it is required for applicants to provide in Box 1 of the application either their Texas Driver's License, Texas Personal Identification Number, or Election Identification Certificate Number OR the applicant's last four digits of their Social Security Number, it is recommended that applicants provide BOTH their Identification number AND the last four digits of the Social Security Number.

In Box 1, while providing an email address or phone number is optional, it is recommended that the applicant provide this information in case the voter needs to be contacted about an issue on their application.

Checking "Annual Application" in Box 4 on the application ensures that you will receive a mailed ballot for all applicable elections during the calendar year.

All "Annual" ballot-by-mail applications expire on December 31st every year.

Applicants who do not qualify to submit an "Annual" ballot-by-mail application may submit an application for a single election starting the first day of the calendar year (January 1) and not later than the 11th day before Election Day. If the 11th day is a weekend or holiday, the deadline is the first preceding business day.

If you wish to vote in a primary election, you must select a party so we can mail you the correct ballot.

County-Wide Polling Locations

1.What is a Vote Center?

A “Vote Center” is a polling place where any registered voter in Limestone County may vote, as long as the voter lives in the county holding the election. Simply stated, with Vote Centers, there is no wrong place to vote!

2.Can I really go to any Vote Center in Limestone County?

Yes, you can visit any Vote Center that is operating for the election.

3.What keeps me from voting twice

The Limestone County ExpressPoll links every Vote Center together via a virtual private network. When you check in at one Vote Center, your record is instantly updated to reflect that you checked in and voted. If you tried to vote at another location, the system would not allow you to vote twice.

4.What happens if I can’t vote on Election Day?

You can vote before the election at an Early Voting Polling Place. There are 2 weeks of Early Voting and extended hours on the last 2 days of second week of Early Voting for the November 4, 2025 Election.

5.How does a voting machine in Limestone County give me the correct ballot for all of the various jurisdictions?

The BOD voting system can hold many different ballot styles. When you check in, the poll worker will scan your provided ID/TDL and the ExpressPoll tells the BOD system which ballot to display for you. So, no matter what district you live in, you will get the correct ballot.

6.If there are fewer places to vote, won’t there be long lines?

Lines may develop during certain elections and at certain times of day, but generally, those counties that have used Vote Centers, have found that voters had shorter waiting times than regular precinct elections. Currently, we don’t know which Vote Centers will be the most popular, but we will have extra staff and equipment standing by to deliver to Vote Centers that are busy.

7.What are the advantages of Vote Centers?

Voters like being able to choose where they vote. Vote Centers are more convenient for most voters. Voter participation has been falling for decades; counties that use Vote Centers find that more people vote. Vote Centers are also more efficient.

8.I’m not a Limestone County resident but work in Limestone County. Can I vote at a Limestone County Vote Center?

No. Participation in Vote Centers is limited to people who are registered to vote in Limestone County.

Curbside Voting

Curbside voting will be located in a designated parking space at each polling location during Early Voting and on Election Day. Curbside voting is only available for voters physically unable to enter the polling place without the likelihood of needing personal assistance or injuring their health. To request assistance from an election office at the polling place call (254) 729-4997 OR if you have an assistant, have the assistant come inside the polling location and alert a poll worker.
